Vitameatavegamin

This isn’t quite like an I Love Lucy episode; we have found that taking vitamins daily is vital to your overall health. We aren’t getting any younger Betties, so we must prepare by taking care of our bodies now!

We chose our top categories and will list which vitamins you need to take to support that area in your life.

Beauty (A true betty takes pride in her looks)

Cognitive (to regain all of those lost brain cells from EDC & TAO over the years) There are many different vitamins in this category. We chose our two favorites.

  • Omega 3- Fatty Acids
  • SAM-e

Heart (the most vital organ in our body)

Digestive (diet pills are a NO; to maintain a healthy weight making sure you are on track with digestion is the healthiest and most effective long-term)

  • Multivitamin
  • Prebiotics
  • Probiotics
  • Vitamin D

Immune (An apple a day keeps the DR away)

  • Echinacea
  • Multivitamins
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin E
  • Zinc

Most of these vitamins are familiar to you but any that you are unsure of (beauty especially) do research. Find what brand works for you! Take it even a step further. If you have a local nutrition store; go browse and ask the store clerks for their opinion.

KEEP CALM & STAY HEALTHY!

What Did You Learn This Week?

What Did You Learn This Week: Health in America

This week, we did not learn something of positivity but rather negativity. However, it was something we would like to share with everyone.

usatoday

We read this article on USA Today’s website: “Americans live sicker, die younger than Others.” When we read through it we were particularly surprised considering how many resources the U.S. has and have developed over the years.
“Americans consume more calories per person; are more likely to abuse drugs; less likely to wear seat belts, more likely to be in a traffic accident; and are more likely to use a firearm in acts of violence…Well-educated Americans — with medical insurance and healthy habits, such as avoiding tobacco and obesity — are still sicker than their peers abroad.” That’s scary.

We will let you read the article at your leisure. This really opened up our eyes to something we didn’t realize was going on and we hope it will do the same for you all.

As Betties it is part of our duty to help. Plus, we want all of you and our friends and family around for as long as possible! Start taking a look at how you’re living and the people around you. Help them, suggest to them how to live a little better. It may not all be just about exercise(though it does have a lot of benefits) it could be more simple than that. Help someone quit smoking, be their therapist and let’s not forget to teach our children the same things. Studies show the first 5 years of a child’s life are the most influential.

How can you help?

Booty Blasters

If you are like us, you have spent hours on different sites trying to find the PERFECT booty exercises. There are so many DVD‘s on the market such as Brazilian Butt Lift, Your Best Butt Fast, and Exhale: Core Fusion – Thighs & Glutes. The downside to DVD’s are how pricey they are. If you already have a gym membership, adding on those additional prices isn’t logical.

Thanks to Fitness Magazine; we found an amazing Seven Day Treadmill routine that blasts 2,000 calories and targets areas such as your glutes and thighs.

We also found 9 ways to sculpt your buns at home! Check it out here.

Remember: The most effective way to get a bootylicious backside is to stick with it! These are the workouts we have personally used and have found them VERY effective.

Start Now, Stay Healthy!

Alright Betties..it’s time for our opinions on the world of exercise. Did you just shiver when you read that word? You’re probably not alone, however, we are here to give you some ideas along with a bit of Betty advice.

Whether you are skinny, slim, athletic or pleasantly plump, it’s time to get off of your butt and hit the machines or the routines. Not necessarily to look like a Victoria’s Secret Model, more to live a healthy life. The older you get the harder it will be to get started exercising, along with our metabolisms slowing down, it’s no fun to even think about. But if you can add in a little exercise along with a healthy “food lifestyle” (never use the “D” word, if never works) you will feel 10x better than you do at this very moment!

  • “The reason I exercise is for the quality of life I enjoy.” –Kenneth H. Cooper

We once read something and it has stuck with us; if you don’t have time to do a full workout do push-ups. Push-ups work out way more of your body than you realize. It’s a great way to keep your core solid and your arms strong even on your busiest of days.

Everything you need to know about eating right and exercising can be found on the internet. If you have a Pinterest, you already know you can find almost any exercise routine known to man. Here’s the great thing about finding little routines on the site: you can do the exercises in the privacy of your own home. We understand if you’re not pro-gym, a lot of people have gym anxiety. We have pinned a lot of exercise routines we enjoy doing (or are planning on getting to someday) when we don’t have a lot of time or we don’t feel like hitting the gym. This picture is an example of something we found that we think is perfect, especially for the newest of workout goers.

Pick out 5 each day for a weeks worth of exercising, so you work different muscle groups each day. At the end of the week, put them all back in for the next week.

Simple right? We have even found fun routines to do in correlation with a movie:

Try This: Out of Bed Workout - repeat this cycle 2x right when you wake up in the morning: 50 jumping jacks, 5 pushups, 20 sit ups, 20 mountain climbers, 30 second plank. Works your whole body before your brain knows what it’s doing.

Also, please do not be afraid to go to the gym, people are not going to snicker at you for trying, remember that.

We’re not here to preach, just trying to get your mind and body moving. It’s proven that just a little exercise a day will make your days better, keep your mind clearer and help you sleep better at night, we could all benefit from that!

Stay healthy,

The Ultimate Betties xo

Weekly Comparisons: Vitamin E Vs. Vaseline

Let’s talk about our face. That thing that ultimately shows our age no matter how old or young you decidedly would like to dress. If you were blessed with a young-looking face, embrace it, you’re lucky, just trust us. As we Betties get older, we want to preserve our skin! In this week’s comparison we are going to compare Vitamin E and Petroleum Jelly, better known as Vaseline.

A little story from one of us: a few years ago, maybe back in high school when we Betties were the coolest (or so we thought) I saw my mom try something that I will never forget. She got out of the shower, clipped her bangs back and cut the top off of a Vitamin E capsule. She then took the ooey-gooey gel inside the capsule and put it all over her face like a mud mask. Now, I was intrigued. Her face looked so slimy and uncomfortable, I of coursed laughed like the little brat I was but like I said I never forgot it. Time to time I think about when she would do that and all she would tell me is how good it was supposed to be for your face.

After doing some research on the old, world-wide web and reading other people’s opinions I decided to give it a try. But first let me explain what most have said;

1. The most common opinion given was that taking the capsule by mouth is more effective that rubbing the gel directly on your face.

2. Many said they have heard of this technique but have never tried it

3. This opinion we liked the most; a lot of people said they used the gel from the capsule as a spot treatment for scars.

When we tried it: To make this a weekly comparison, I also read a lot about putting Petroleum Jelly on your face before bed and how great it was at preserving your skin. So, we decided to give this a try too.

Petroleum Jelly and capsules of Vitamin E

Vitamin E: “found naturally in some foods, added to others, and available as a dietary supplement.” It is a fat-soluble antioxidant and it has been stated that it can have a potential to promote health and prevent and treat disease. Basically, you should be taking it no matter what. Many people take it because it is known for helping hair and nails grow and great for your skin.

Petroleum Jelly: Vaseline, as it is better known, is a great substance for healing dry skin. It also: helps protect minor scrapes, cuts and burns, wind burn and chapping (we always use it for chap stick if we don’t have any handy!) The last use is what we didn’t know prior, it helps reduce the appearance of fine, dry lines. HELLO PEOPLE, WRINKLES!!

The difference: Since, this is our first attempt at either, we do not have the final answer. However, we will update you on how the continued use of the vitamin E works for scars.

  • Let us forewarn you, the feeling of either on your face is not a pleasant one. However, on two different nights we tried each one. The jelly was a lot thinner and not as bad as we had assumed, it was absorbed after a little while and we woke up the next morning with our faces feeling smooth and refreshed.
  • The Vitamin E was very thick and did not smell like roses, that’s for sure. We put that on our faces and let it soak in.

*This weekly comparison is one that will be ongoing, the effects of both can not be immediately seen over just one use.

All in All: We have used the Vaseline on our faces again since the first time and will continue to use it for a long while as we feel it will definitely help our skin stay young and refreshed. As far as the Vitamin E goes, we will use that as scar spot treatment and see how that progresses!

Please let us know if you know anything about the lasting effects of either product, we would love to learn more! Until next time, stay young Betties!
